Pets are family. And when they hurt because of age or an accidental injury, the first thought on any pet owner's mind is to find out the best way to fix it and relieve their pet's pain or discomfort. More »
Choosing a veterinarian for your pet can be just as difficult as choosing a doctor for your child. Especially if you consider those four-legged friends to be more like family. More »
Casey is a Licensed Veterinary Technician that graduated from MSU with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and a Certificate in Veterinary Tech. She has a passion for helping and educating clients and providing exceptional care and compassion to all animals as if they were her own. Casey and her husband Warren currently share their house with an easy going boxer mix named Hank, Buddy a typical beagle, and head of the house Yoda the cat.
Melissa moved to Michigan from her home state of Pennsylvania to attend college at Michigan State University, where she earned her Bachelor's in Veterinary Technology. Melissa's love for pets is evident with her two dogs, Theo and Archie as well as her cats, Crunk and Chuey. She exudes a calm, serene sort of caring that is a special benefit in dealing with animals - but don't let Melissa's quiet demeanor fool you. In her spare time she enjoys training with the Traverse City Roller Derby for the Cherry Bombs. In fact, in 2013 she was voted MVP multiple times. In other words, she's a "Bad Mamma Jamma"! (If you don't know derby, that's a bit of a pun, because the position Melissa most often plays is called a Jammer.)
Lindsey comes to us from the Grand Rapids area and she is very happy to be living in TC! She has about a decade of experience and earned her Veterinary Technicians License from Baker College. Lindsey joined our practice with an interest in Integrative Therapies and her drive to be among others who are involved in offering comprehensive care. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities like canoeing, horseback riding, and hiking as well as exploring all of what beautiful Northern Michigan has to offer. Lindsey and her fiancée have two cats, Memphis and Malakai to make their lives interesting. We welcome Lindsey's outgoing nature and wonderful spirit, and we are certain our clients will too!
Michelle joined the team at Companion Animal Hospital as a receptionist in 2009 and is currently our Lead Receptionist. She has been working with animals since 2004, and has spent her whole life with pets as members of her family. She currently has several furry family members including three pugs: Kaiser, Reuben and Sushi, as well as two chinchillas, Diego and Miguel. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, scuba diving, bird watching and being outdoors with her husband, Jason, and "the pug pack", especially hiking and kayaking - and yes - the pugs kayak too!
Maddy joined the team at Companion Animal Hospital as a receptionist in fall 2015. Her experience in the animal medical field was as an assistant veterinary technician in Illinois at an emergency animal hospital for 6 years, while she was going to college for History and Museum Studies. She moved from Illinois to Northern Michigan, where her mom is from originally and still has a lot of family in the area. Maddy and her husband have: Jack their golden retriever, Waldo and Precious their two cats, Luna and Casper their two ponies and Jade and Diesel their two horses. In her free time she teaches local history classes at NMC, gardens, horseback rides (except this year because they are expecting their first baby in July!) and loves visiting their cabin in the U.P.
Tayler comes to us from the Cadillac area and really enjoys working in Traverse City. She has been working in the veterinary field since 2013 and just graduated from Baker College in June of 2015 with her veterinary technician’s license. Tayler joined our practice with the goal of helping every animal who walks through our door as well as hoping to bring a smile and a laugh to everyone’s face. She has a passion for cold laser therapy and is really looking forward to being able to administer these treatments to our clients. She has a yellow Labrador named Winslow who is the best dog in the world (at least to her anyway). She enjoys going to concerts, laughing at a good movie, exploring new places, and above all else, curling up to read a Stephen King book. In fact, she has over 40 of his books and has even had her picture taken in front of his house in Maine. Talk about a super fan!
Jeni began as Lead Receptionist in April of 2013 (the very day of our 11th Anniversary, in fact). Jeni boasts a background of nearly 20 years in Marketing and Communications, a strong knack for organization and a wackiness our office enjoys daily (she's been skipping down the back hall). She enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and three cats Calvin, Maverick and Toby. Jeni recently moved to Northern Michigan from downstate and loves exploring the area and gardening. Jeni's creativity and experience is expected to bring exciting new forms of communication to our clients along with plenty of smiles at the reception desk. Jeni has moved back downstate but through the powers of technology she is still part of our team.
Kristin and her family moved to Traverse City from Maine for the United States Coast Guard. She brings to our team a veterinary passion of over 16 years experience ranging from kennel assistant to head receptionist. When something goes wrong with the software or computers you hear her name being called. Kristin enjoys fishing and boating with her husband Josh and two children Emma and Ethan. Her furry friends have ranged from dogs and rats to currently one dog Autumn, a pitbull mix, and Luna and Bear, a silly brother and sister cat combo. Like Jeni she is still part of the Companion Animal Hospital team working remotely from where the US Coast Guard sends her and her family, which currently happens to be back in Maine.
Terry Seymour is Companion Animal Hospital's practice manager. For over 35 years Terry has been a part of veterinary medicine. He is a life long animal lover. Even through Terry's fairly severe allergies, they have always had very special pets. Sally and Pita, their Golden Retrievers are currently holding the fort down in their household. After a successful sales and management career in another field Terry joined Companion Animal Hospital in 2003. We all look forward to seeing you and your pets and welcoming you into our practice!
